Western crowned pigeon

A huge terrestrial pigeon; 61-75 cm; 1800-2400 g; sexes are alike in appearance. Head and neck: Overall coloration is bluish grey; head adorned with laterally compressed pale bluish grey lacy crest; eye red; black stripe from base of bill and through eye terminates behind eye; bill grey; throat black.

Body: upper back and upper wing coverts dark purplish brown; greater wing coverts white tipped forming a conspicuous white patch.

Limbs and tail: Legs grey; feet dull red; tail bluish grey with white tip.
