Head and neck:
Dark brown; upper jaw ends in a hook; large eyes and the scales are very noticeable.

Body:
Carapace - round and dome-shaped with scutes curved outwards, growth rings (anuli) present and noticeable on vertebral and costal scutes; black to dark brown in color; small nuchal scute is present; five wide vertebral scutes that are almost equal in length; sides of the first vertebral scute are parallel; second to fourthvertebral scutes are hexagonal in shape; fifth vertebral scute is wider towards the rear; 11 marginal scutes. the supracaudal scutes are divided.

Limbs and tail:
Forelimbs have noticeable overlapping scales; thighs and heels of the hindlimbs have pointed tubercles. tail is short.
