Head and neck: color varies from yellow, brown to black; head is small to moderate in size with non-projecting snout; the large prefrontal scale may not be divided.

Body:
Carapace - uniform brown or with distinct yellow and dark rings; abrupt drop starting on anterior portion of 5th vertebral;domed with a flat dorsal surface; sides sloping; anterior margins may be slightly flared; an elongated cervical scute is present; 2nd to 5th vertebral scutes broader than long; 5th flared; a narrow ridge on ventebral scutes may be present; posterior margins weakly or not serrated; supracaudal undivided; growth rings prominent.

Plastron - A pair of gular scutes project slightly beyond the carapacial rim.

Limbs and tail: greyish brown; limbs without enlarged tubercles; five claws on forefeet.
