Yellow-bellied turtle
Trachemys scripta scripta


Head and neck: Dark greenish grey with yellow lines; A broad yellow blotch behind the eye on the side of the head; chin and neck with broad stripes; iris has a transverse dark bar; upper jaw has a terminal notch.

Body:
Carapace - Oval and domed; color go through changes from yellow green to almost black in old individuals; each pleural scute has a broad yellow vertical yellow stripe and narrower lines; marginal scutes slightly serrated posteriorly;
Plastron - pale yellow; no hinges; dark spots (ocelli) on intergular, gular, and underside of marginal scutes;
Plastron of old males may be black in color.

Limbs and tail: Dark greenish grey with broad pale yellow stripes; Adult males have long claws in forefeet.
