Head and neck:
Dark greenish grey or greenish brown with yellow lines, conspicious red patch behind the eye running along the side of the head; narrow yellow chin stripes; iris has a transverse dark bar; upper jaw has a terminal notch.

Body:
Carapace - oval and domed in females, flatter in males;
color go through changes from yellow green to almost black in old individuals; transverse yellow stripe on each pleural scute; marginal scutes slightly serrated posteriorly.
Plastron - Pale yellow with dark marking on some or all scutes; entire plastron may be black especially in older males.

Limbs and tail: Dark greenish grey with pale yellow stripes; adult males have longer claws in forefeet; tail noticeably longer and thicker on males.
