Head and neck: Head dark brown or grey with pale yellow spots on cheek; small to moderate; snout not protruding; upper jaw with hook, but no notch; neck pale yellow with dark spots; iris red in male, yellowish brown in female.

Body
Carapace - Dark brown with broad yellow stripes, high domed, round or oval in shape; usually no keel; each scute has a mid-dorsal yellow stripe and radiating lines; first vertebral scute angled at 45 degrees or less; all vertebral scutes are broader than long.

Plastron - as long or longer than carapace; radiating lines on each scute.

Limbs and tail: Limbs dark brown with yellow or orange enlarged scales; usually four toes on each hindfoot; short tail may have a yellow dorsal stripe.
