12 cm; 9-14 g. Head and neck: Fore crown red (male), dull greenish brown (female) ; face red with white dots; nape dull greenish brown; bill red; eye orange to pale red; skin around eye greenish orange; upper throat red.

Body: Upper body dull greenish brown; breast greenish grey with white dots; center of abdomen pale yellow.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet yellowish orange; tail pinkish brown to purplish brown, white bars at base; undertail coverts light grey to light yellow.
