A medium to large pigeon; 27-28 cm TL; Sexes are difference in appearance. Head and neck: Forehead and face bright greenish yellow; crown and nape greyish green; eye blue; skin around eye bluish; throat greenish yellow.

Body: Upper back and upper wing coverts dark brown (male), greyish green (female); lower back and rump greyish yellow green; breast and abdomen greenish yellow; median and greater wing coverts black with yellow tips, forming 2 conspicious bars; primaries black; lower abdomen and undertail coverts yellowish white with grey bars.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet purplish red; tail greyish brown; outer tail feathers grey with black band before the tail tip.
