Head and neck:
Dark brown head is moderately small and elongate; two pairs of prefrontal scales occur dorsally on snout; jaws are long and narrow with sharp cutting edges

Body:
Caracapace - the nuchal scute does not touch the first costal scute; scutes are large and distinctly overlap one another on posterior edges; five large vertebral scutes, keeled; four costal scutes on each side; marginal scutes are serrated strongly on back third of carapace
Plastron - four pairs inframarginal scutes without pores; light yellow or white in color
Limbs and tail:
Front flippers are medium length compared to other species; two claws on each flipper
