Head and neck:
Broad and triangular-shaped head with enlarged gular spines across the center of the throat; sometimes have stripe pattern along the jaw

Body:
Robust elongated body; aligned rows of enlarged conical spines along the dorso-lateral edge that continue to the forearms; highly variable color - pale grey, brown, reddish brown, and gold

Limbs and tail:
Tail almost the same length as SVL; lateral spinose scales on sides of the tail base and flanks; prefemoral pores found on the ventral side of the thighs; males have wider cloacal opening and more pronounced femoral pores; tail does not undergo autotomy (will not grow back when cut)
