Head and neck:
Dark brown horseshoe-shaped patch stretching from the orbit to the nape of the neck; large eyes, with moving eyelids covering them totally when they closed; pupils are vertical

Body:
Head and body covered with small granules; many large tubercles scattered on the body; two broad dark brown or black bars across the dorsal surface; between these patches, skin color varied from deep red brown to bright orange; may or may not have a prominent white dorsal stripe from between the eyes to the base of the tail; 16 cm SVL

Limbs and tail:
Short limbs, completed by five cylindrical and slender toes; no adhesive pads under the toes; tail is very thick, with a ringed appearance; top of the tail may have dark blotches
