Northern snake-necked turtle
Chelodina oblonga


Head and neck: Head large and flat; chin with barbels; head and jaws greenish grey; neck long (>75% carapace length), thick with dark mottlings and tubercles.

Body
Carapace- light brown to black with dark spots; narrow, oval; widest behind the center; vertebrals depressed; 2nd to 4th vertebral with medial groove; 1st vertebral largest, flared anteriorly; 1st, 4th and 5th vertebrals broader than long; rough with radiating striations; marginal scutes on side may be slightly upturned.


Plastron- pale yellow; long and narrow; front rounded; large anal notch.


Limbs and tail: greenish grey; anterior forelegs with enlarged scales.
