Head and neck: Crown, nape, and side of neck iridescent green; eye uncertain color, probably purplish; bill black at base, lighter on tip; throat white.

Body: Plump in appearance; upper back iridescent green gradually turning to purplish dark brown towards the back and rump; lesser wing coverts dark grey with metallic green tips; median wing coverts grey or brown with white tips forming a broad white bar; rest of wing coverts dark brown with purplish tint; breast white with hair-like orange spot in center; upper abdomen white, lower light brown.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet red; tail short; central tail feathers purplish dark brown; other tail feathers light grey with black band before the tip (subterminal).
