Head and neck: Head is large with non-projecting snout; yellow to dark brown with pink on snout on some individuals; upper jaw no hook; large prefrontal scale divided;frontal scale undivided.

Body
Carapace - yellowish brown to dark brown with dark seams; flattened dorsally; vertebrals wider than long; all marginal scutes serrated; growth rings (annuli) prominent on flat vertebrals and marginal areolae (center); 11 marginals on each side; two supracaudals.


Plastron- yellowish brown with dark seams; gular and anal scutes with notch; gulars thickened and extend slightly beyond the carapacial rim.
Limbs and tail: Forelimbs black; hindlimbs and tail dark brown; forelimbs covered with large overlapping, pointed scales; A large conical tubercle on each thigh.
