Eroded hingeback tortoise
Kinixys erosa


Head and neck: Head is small to moderate; non-protruding snout; hooked upper jaw; prefrontals divided; large frontal may be divided; yellow to brown in color.

Body:
Carapace- dark brown with or without yellow spot on the middle of each scute; domed with a flat and unkeeled dorsal surface; sides sloping; anterior margins flared and reverted; posterior margins strongly serrated and reverted; sloping starts at the middle of the 5th vertebral scute; all vertebrals broader than long; 5th flared and widest; 11 marginals on each side; supracaudal undivided.

Plastron- dark brown to black with yellow seams; a pair of gulars projecting beyond the carapacial rim; notched in front; three to four small axillary scutes and one large inginal which is in contact with femoral;


Limbs and tail: brown in color; anterior surface of forelimbs with a few large scales in four to five rows; five claws on forefeet; tail terminates in a claw-like tubercle.
