Head and neck:
Three noticeable scales on the head; the pair of prefrontal scales are the same size as the large frontal scale; upper jaw is slightly hook-shaped.

Body:
Carapace - nuchal scute absent; dome-shaped and elongated; five vertebral scutes, second and third vertebral scutes are wider than longer; four costal scutes on each side; 11 marginal scutes on each side; one wide supracaudal (above the tail) scute;
scutes are yellowish to pale brown in color with a black blotch in the middle of each scute.
Plastron - two deep triangular-shaped notch towards the rear forms two separate anal scutes; suture between the second pair (humeral) and first pair (gular) is longer than the third pair (pectoral); gular scutes are rounded; suture of the pectoral scutes is thin; color is similar to carapace, but not consistent.
Limbs and tail:
No cone-shaped tubercles on thigh; forelimbs with prominent overlapping scales; five claws on forelimb; four claws on hindlimb; feet are heavy and elephant-like; tail short.
