Elongated tortoise

Head and neck:
Head is yellow (in males, reddish around nostrils and eyes during mating season); upper jaw ends in a slight hook; two large prefrontal scales.

Body:
Carapace - cervical scute present; high and elongated, both sides are symmetrical; irregular black markings on scutes, but some individuals without markings; yellowish to greenish color; four pleural scutes on each side; 11 marginal scutes that are slightly serrated in older individuals; supracaudal scute is large; nuchal scute small but may not be present on all individuals.
Plastron - yellow with a black patch on the middle of each scute; suture of second pair (humeral) is shorter than the third (pectoral) and fifth (femoral);
suture of pectoral scutes are wider compared to Indotestudo fortensii.

Limbs and tail:
Prominent yellow scales on grey limbs; hindlimbs have three spike-shaped protrusions towards the back; feet are elephant-like; claws are whitish to yellow; five claws on forelimb; four claws on hindlimb; tail is short; male have longer tail than female; tip of the tail with pointed tubercles.
