Head and neck: head is moderate; non-protruding snout and slighly hooked upper jaw; top of the head may be dark brown to black; face, throat, and neck yellowish; large prefrontal divided followed by a single large frontal scale.

Body:
Carapace - very high domed and abruptly descending sides; vertebral scutes are broader than long or as broad as long; yellowish brown; seams dark brown to black; growth ring prominent; each marginal with dark brown triangular marking on anterior seam.

Plastron - usually uniform yellow; some with brown markings.

Limbs and tail: yellow to brown; forelegs covered with large overlapping scales.
