Head and neck: head is broad, brown to grey with numerous orange or yellow spots; snout slightly projecting; jaws whitish to dark grey; upper jaw with shallow notch forming two fang-liked cusps (pointed tips).

Body
Carapace - brown, greyish brown or black with darker smudges; broad, oval, high-arched but depressed dorsally, serrated posteriorly; pale yellowish brown line along the vertebral scutes.

Plastron - yellow; axillary and iguinal scutes are present; dark radiating lines may be present but disappear with age.


Limbs and tail: Limbs greyish brown with enlarged scales; digits webbed; tail is short.
