Yellow-headed temple turtle

Head and neck: Head greenish grey to black with grey markings, bright yellow on mature males during breeding season; upper jaw has a median notch, forming two fang-liked cusps (pointed tips).

Body
Carapace - uniform brown to black, slightly domed, serrated posteriorly; notched on 12th marginal scute; vertebral scute - first broader anteriorly, second to fifth broader than long; 6th vertebral may be present.

Plastron - yellow with large black spot on each scute; plastron is connected to carapace by ligaments; plastrons of old individuals may be entirely black; anal scutes notched.

Limbs and tail: limbs uniform brown to black; adult males may change to pale yellow during breeding season; digits entirely webbed; forelimbs with large scales; tail grey and short.
