Head and neck: dark brown with yellow stripe from behind the eye to neck; snout, cheek and throat with yellow or orange spots; upper jaw hooked
Body
Carapace - depressed,marginal serrated posteriorly, but smooth out with age; vertebral scutes broader than long; three keels may be present; color varies from yellowish brown, greyish brown to dark brown.
Plastron:
Plastron dark brown to black with yellowish brown edges; anal scutes with rounded notched; no hinge; growth annuli visible.

Limbs and tail:
Limbs greyish brown large scales anteriorly; ; digits partially webbed; tail moderate with soft spines at base.
