Head and neck: dark brown with three broad light yellow stripes from snout to neck; chin and throat light yellow; upper jaw ends in a small hook.

Carapace - brown to dark brown in color; moderate domed; five vertebral scutes; second and third vertebral scutes are the largest; underside of marginal scutes may be pale yellow with a black blotch at the edge of each scute

Plastron:
The hinge between the pectoral and abdominal scutes can be used to close the turtle's shell; pale yellow in color; each scute may have a black blotch near the edge

Limbs and tail:
Limbs dark brown, no markings; tail is short.
