Head and neck: Head large, diamond-shaped; distinctive crests run from behind orbit to dorsal body.


Body: body robust; color variable from light brown, yellow, orange to brown with or without black spots.

Limbs and tail: lamellae on all digits; tail 80-92% of SVL; dorsal color of tail usually lighter color; tail will not regenerate when lost.
