Head and neck:
Similiar to Mindanao Rufous Hornbill but casque is much smaller; head and neck rufous brown; bill red at base, yellow at midway and gradually changing to ivory at tip;
casque large and narrow extending to a point towards tip of bill, red; eye cream to pale blue; skin around eyes and throat black and yellow (male) and greenish yellow (female).

Body:
Wing coverts dark brown; breast and upper abdomen rufous brown; lower abdomen black.


Limbs and tail: Thighs and legs orange red; feet greenish grey; tail white.
