Head and neck: bright red; throat with blue patch; bill white.
Body: Predominantly red; back and scapulars red with black edges (scaled effect); lesser wing coverts black; median wing coverts and secondaries light blue; greater wing coverts dark blue; primaries black; breast, abdomen, tail coverts red.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet grey; thigh coverts red; tail greyish blue.
