The smallest parrot in the Philippines with 9 subspecies; 14 cm TL; 31-40 g. Head and neck: Extent of red on forehead to nape depending on subspecies; throat green; bill reddish orange.

Body: Upper body dark yellowish green; below lighter yellowish green below; breast may or may not have reddish orange patch depending on subspecies and sex; rump and undertail coverts red.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet yellowish orange to orange; tail green.
