A small, stocky parrot; similar to a large Agapornis sp.; 15cm; 62-77 g. Head and neck: Face and throat pale blue (male); throat only blue (female); Head green; behind lower neck narrow pale blue colloar (male), yellow (female); bill grey.

Body: Upper body green; rump and lower body yellowish green.

Limbs and tail: Legs and feet grey; tail short, green.
